One of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time, was taking some much needed time out over Christmas and New Year to be in Cornwall. I rented the most heavenly cottage close to Port Isaac, and took every opportunity to be outdoors & to see my friends who live there for part of the year. I had friends to stay too & and even got into the icy sea at Daymer Bay, which has definitely kick started my cold water swimming bug!
I always think January is the perfect month not only for resetting but also for reassessing what worked and what still needs work, both professionally and personally. I plan to do more of what makes me happy in 2022 by prioritising downtime over work. I have a tendency to always put my business first, so in January I’ve taken every opportunity to down tools and even housework to get away for weekends and see my friends and family. Since I returned from Cornwall, there’s been lots of getting into icy water as much as possible at Alderford Lake. I’m also following more of a plant based approach to my diet which I’ve been doing for about a year now and I’m really enjoying that journey and the difference it’s made to my clarity and energy levels.
Who doesn’t begin January with the very best of intentions only to fall off the wagon and give up? So this year I’m working on small changes after having read Atomic Habits which has really changed my thinking and my approach. Giving up the idea of perfectionism and understanding that we are all a constantly evolving work in progress matters more than putting ourselves under unrealistic pressure. So here’s to a year of prioritising wellness, happiness & kindness.
